Transform your garage into the family entertainment room.
Fancy a state-of-the-art entertainment room but all your other rooms are being used and you can’t extend the building?
One enterprising family from South Wales have created the perfect solution and in doing so have fashioned living space that brings the whole family together.
Make the best use of the space you have
As their children grew up this South Wales couple realised that they needed a 21st century AV entertainment hub to cater for the family’schanging needs. But with no option to build and all rooms fully used itseemed a forlorn dream. However, a bit of lateral thinking led them torealise that the integral double garage could easily be transformed to meet their goal for the family.
The new living space would have to work as both a room to sit and relax in, as well as a home cinema. With limited space the technology and the technology footprint had to be small and be hidden at the press of a button to avoid a feeling of clutter.
To make sure that the audio system would be as discrete as possible they used Amina’s Plaster In-wall speakers. As it says the speakers are actually plastered in to the wall!
What they did
The garage was first dry-walled to create the inner room. The usualtasks such as damp proofing and insulation were performed and thewiring for the AV was done at the first fix stage along with the otherelectrics.
Installation in the plasterboard was simple: Offer the speaker, scribe around it, cut out the hole and fit the Amina loudspeaker. The speakers are sized so they will fit between the studs in modern dry walling, though they are also they are equally at home in solid walls or ceilings.
Invisible when installed
Once installed, skim over the speakers with a 1-2mm plaster skim andthey are hidden. Let the plaster dry and they are ready to be decorated. It’s as easy as it sounds.
AV Fun for the family
With the wiring-up complete, the screen installed and the speakersplastered over there was a blank canvas to decorate the room as theywished. The end result is a text book study in how to evolve a doublegarage into a 21st AV room for the family.
The room is used to accommodate all the AV fun for the family – Widescreen TV with surround sound, stereo and entertainment server for the latest interactive games.
